Colorful hot air balloon glowing against the night sky at the Glendale Arizona Balloon Festival

A Perfect Arizona Evening: Our Night at the Glendale Balloon Fest 1/30/26 - 2/01/26

Some evenings surprise you in the best possible way.

We recently spent a night at the Glendale, Arizona Balloon Festival, and what started as a casual outing quickly turned into one of those memories that stays with you. The desert sky filled with color as balloons slowly inflated, the air cooled, and the entire field began to glow.

If you’re planning to go, one tip right away — bring chairs. There is some waiting before the balloons inflate (around 6:15 pm), but once they do, it’s absolutely worth it. About 15–20 balloons participated, along with tethered balloon rides, bouncy toys for kids, food vendors, and a relaxed, festive atmosphere that felt welcoming for all ages.

We purchased VIP tickets through Groupon, which included VIP parking, entry into the festivities, and an Arizona Balloon Festival t-shirt — a nice bonus that made the evening even easier. The night wrapped up with fireworks around 8:15 pm, lighting up the sky and closing out a really special Arizona experience.

This is exactly the kind of simple joy we love discovering — local, affordable, and unexpectedly magical.
