Our RV Years

For the first three years of retirement, our home had wheels. We traveled the country in a Class A motorhome, exploring places we likely would never have seen otherwise. RV life shaped how we travel today—slower, more intentionally, and focused on experiences rather than checklists.

Utah left a lasting impression, with visits to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef. We based ourselves in places like Moab and learned to appreciate the freedom of staying close to nature while still having the comforts of home.

Some of our favorite memories came from unplanned moments—visiting Elvis Presley’s birthplace in Tupelo, walking the River Walk and the Alamo in San Antonio, spotting a coati in Las Cruces, watching weather move in quickly at an Oklahoma casino, and even experiencing a small tornado roll through Goldfield, Nevada. RV travel taught us to stay flexible and enjoy what each stop offered.

Those years on the road changed how we approach travel. While we no longer travel full-time by motorhome, the mindset stayed with us. Today, our trips may include hotels, resorts, cruises, or flights, but the goal remains the same—travel that feels meaningful, comfortable, and worth the time.
